 Rabbit farming

Documenting livestock research in Barbados

Commercial meat rabbit production is steadily gaining traction in the global livestock industry, and the island country of Barbados is no exception. I spent some time with the Greenland Livestock Research Station in Barbados in 2015 piloting a crossbreeding project to introduce a new rabbit breed to the local industry, with the goal of increasing yields and genetic diversity in the local stock. The long-term goal of this project is to establish an exchange between local farmers and the research station, with improved record-keeping and breeding practices.

Back in the day I also kept a blog about this experience. Read more here.
